Webslice Serverless keeps billing low and simple. There’s no monthly membership fees, and no surprise AWS bills. Serverless runs on a truly usage-based model. Laravel Vapor can only be used in production with the $39/mo plan. There's also a Sandbox mode, but it can't be used in any meaningful way (no custom domains and limited to 10 deploys). There's still usages costs on top of any plan, which get handled through AWS. This requires creating and configuring your own AWS account for compute, database and storage charges.

Git deployments

Webslice Serverless makes deploys easy. Connect to GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket with two clicks, then deploying is as easy as picking a repo from a list. Two strategies available: Live deploys (speed optimized) or Versioned deploys (for atomic swaps). You don’t need to know anything about AWS to deploy; we handle all the AWS config so you don’t have to.

Laravel Vapor only offers atomic deploys, and needs integrating with AWS. Git deploys require installing Vapor's CLI client, configuring files, and connecting an AWS account. Even then, you'll still need to manage AWS resources and credentials yourself. Deploy speeds are dependent on Lambda build and deploy steps, and your AWS config.

Framework requirements

Webslice Serverless runs any PHP framework. It’s not tied to Laravel or anything else. If you want to focus on making websites, Webslice takes away all the AWS burdens and lets you build whatever you want. There's extensive documentation available for the biggest CMS like Statamic, Craft, WordPress and more.

Laravel Vapor only supports Laravel applications. It’s also heavily reliant on developers having pre-existing AWS knowledge. Those already comfortable with AWS architecture may find it manageable. If you're running a non-Laravel application or you don't want to deal with AWS config, Vapor might not be right for you.
