Fortrabbit expects you to customize and create your own modular monthly plan. You choose resource requirements for components like traffic, storage, processing power, backups, and disk space. Resources are segmented by tiers, but Fortrabbit doesn't scale to zero. You’ll at least be paying for the smallest resource allocations at all times, whether you need the resources or not. Once you scale above resource thresholds, you’ll be paying the price for the next tier—even if your traffic is just one visitor over the previous threshold. And this all per website; you'll have to construct a new modular plan for each project.

Scalability

Webslice Serverless is built on AWS in a way that takes out the learning curve, while maximizing performance. Elastic autoscaling works out the box. You set concurrency limits, and Webslice scales up and down for you. There’s no tiered monthly pricing, so you won't pay for unused resources. Websites needing pre-allocated resources can use Webslice Containers on the same account.

Fortrabbit is also built on AWS. It autoscales between pre-defined modular resource tiers, rather than true usage-based costs. You’re jumping between levels of being over-resourced, rather than getting the full benefit of elasticity. Rather than committing to serverless, Fortrabbit's pricing model has them setting awkwardly between monthly plans and true autoscaling.

Deployment

Webslice Serverless makes Git deploys simple and painless. Direct Git integration works with GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket. Two clicks to connect, then pick a repo from a list. The process is app-free, quick and easy to understand. You can choose between two strategies: Live deploys (prioritizes speed) or Versioned deploys (for atomic swaps).

You can deploy code to Fortrabbit using Git on a local machine and push remotely. Fortrabbit encourages developers to connect the Fortrabbit Github app to their GitHub account for what they call “simplified” integration. It’s worth noting that this integration process, like many of Fortrabbit’s features, is still in beta.
